WINDFAERERWindfaerer is a magnificent blackened folk metal band all the way from N…..wait New Jersey!? I figured this would have been some far eastern European band! Hell I have a chance to see these guys live then! Neat! Anyways. Yes. Windfaerer are releasing their sophomore album Tenebrosum this September and I do believe this is one of the more magical black metal releases that you will hear this year. It’s very adventurous and worthy for you and your mates when you need a soundtrack for some questing but it’s not like Emyn Muil or Moongates Guardian. No this style of black metal is very much folk inspired with high energies and influences from classical music and your favorite fantasy movies. Windfaerer doesn’t get too nerdy though as they fucking bring it with fantastically written black metal. This album is damn near perfection. I enjoy it so much!

Windfaerer is a trio of established musicians who are in a band or two within the local area of New Jersey, which is neat because the drummer, John Paul Andrade, is in Pyrithion. Everything else comes from two lads who are in a deathcore band known as Grimus. When they play live, they grab a Peter Lloyd from Dystrophy and Mike Munoz from Grimus. So yeah, these guys know what they are doing. Best thing about this is that these guys know how to black metal and they black metal really well. Adding a sense of integrity with their writing style and tossing in some courageous moments as well with the use of the violin in there. I love what I am hearing.

Michael Goncalves performs all vocals, guitar and bass guitar parts on Terebrosum and my goodness….he is a mastermind of melodic riffs pushed onto darkened shrines of musical endeavors. The violin also adds another layer of musical greatness with Valcek handling those majestic notes on this album. The violin was definitely a great touch and I think the album benefits from having that instrument performed on it. Very talented performances all around as the drumming has hardly any blasting in it and has a marching sensibility about it. Going onward and kicking ass the entire time!

Windfaerer’s Terebrosum is a must listen-must have album. Every time I put this on I just get so lost in the wonder of the music and I have an amazing time. Buy this now!
